Rising activity in the Spanish non-residential property market

According to BBVA Research, the non-residential sector has shown greater dynamism in the second quarter of 2017, when the number of new transactions of premises, warehouses and offices was 14,628, up 9.5% over the same period of the previous year, which puts the annual volume accumulated during the last twelve months above the 53,000 units, according to data from the General Council of Notaries.

By segment, the office sector posted the strongest growth at the end of June, increasing by 41% from the accumulated annual volume, compared to 18% from commercial premises and 8% from industrial warehouses.

Among the reasons for good performance, BBVA Research underlines the good performance of employment in both the services sector and the industrial sector, the positive evolution of investment in machinery and equipment, and the growth of household expenditure during the first half of the year.
